Tahara Look At Me
Dane is my oldest Border Collie, he came to live with me when he was aprox 6mths, the first couple of weeks were tough and we did have some battle of
wills, he was used to farm life and I brought him to the middle of town! Dane is a quick learner and soon life was great.
Dane was hit by a car in frount of my house right before my eyes it was horrible, he didn't appear to be hurt, but a trip to the vet confirmed he had severed the nerves in his shoulder on the right side. No Broken bones, no blood. Dane was 14 mths old. After trying massage and even acupuncture he never regained the use of it and approx 12 mths later his whole leg was removed....this not once slowed him down. I even remember the time he got a prickle in his left back leg and he still brought the ball back to be thrown again, on two opposite legs.
Of course if you tell him off or try to put him in a kennel he has this really put on crippled dog walk and it almost works! Not long after my husband moved in with me Dane had a dissagreement with one of his
dogs and lost the skin and a tooth from his bottom jaw, it looked horrible and a vet told me his jaw may dry and the bone may split or get knocked and broken off..........My Dane is a survivour...the skin some how grew back a little, looks a bit yuk still and sometimes splits and bleeds but its not an issue. Also the poor chap had prostrate trouble and was netured at 8yrs, he is a little stiff in the mornings now with arthuritis and tired joints, but he still gives the younger dogs a run for their money!

It is with great sadness I write to say that Dane crossed the rainbow bridge this afternoon. 15yrs 7mths Dane had a wonderful life and shared a great deal with me, although he had slowed down so much in the last year he still enjoyed getting a pat and a cuddle from anyone and had a great paitence with our daughter tolarating so much from a dog loving toddler who keeps asking wheres Dane? Dane will always be with me in my heart and I will always be thankful to him for the desendants he has left which are a big part of Kaeanda border collies. I love you Dane and I miss you so much......

They say memories are golden, well maybe that is true.
I never wanted memories, I only wanted you.
A million times I needed you, a million times I cried.
If love alone could have saved you, you never would have died.
In life I loved you dearly, in death I love you still.
In my heart you hold a place no one could ever fill.
If tears could build a stairway and heartache make a lane,
I'd walk the path to heaven and bring you back again.
Our family chain is broken, and nothing seems the same.
But as God calls us one by one, the chain will link again.

But as God calls us one by one, the chain will link again.
